General issues

Do I have to complete the ELISE quiz?
Yes, if you are a commencing undergraduate or postgraduate coursework student at UNSW and have not previously completed the ELISE quiz as part of another UNSW program you will be required to complete the ELISE quiz. The ELISE quiz will appear on your Moodle dashboard when it becomes available, provided you are enrolled into courses for the current term.

Some second or third year students transferring from another institution, i.e. first year at UNSW, are also required to complete the ELISE quiz.

If the ELISE quiz appears on your Moodle dashboard you must complete it.

I am a postgraduate coursework student and have commenced or transferred to a new program. Do I have to complete the ELISE quiz?
Yes, commencing a new program or transferring to a different program or degree is classed as being a commencing student so you will need to complete the quiz.

I have deferred my studies this semester. Do I have to complete the ELISE quiz?
If you have already passed the ELISE quiz you will not be required to complete it again. If you have not completed the quiz you will be required to do so when you return to UNSW.

How do I access the ELISE quiz?
Access the ELISE quiz via your Moodle account using your User ID and Password.  You do not complete the quiz in one sitting.

How does the ELISE quiz work?

1. Optional ELISE lessons

When you access the ELISE course in Moodle, you will see four optional lessons: Define, Discover, Organise and Check. You can explore the lessons to learn more about studying at university. The pages in this ELISE tutorial are also available for more guidance.

2. Mandatory ELISE quiz

Once you feel comfortable with the content, you will complete the mandatory ELISE quiz. You must score at least 80% (16/20) to pass. You will be prompted to keep attempting the quiz until you achieve a pass mark.

In the quiz, you will answer 20 randomised questions. Each multiple-choice question allows 2 attempts to answer correctly. For true/false questions you have 1 attempt. You can leave the quiz at any time to review the lessons or tutorial, and the quiz will save your progress and take you back to where you left off.

3. Give your feedback

Once you have completed the ELISE quiz, we would love you to complete the short feedback survey to help us improve ELISE.

When does the quiz have to be completed?
You must complete the quiz by the end of the 5th week of your first semester of enrolment.

What will happen if I don't complete the quiz?
Failure to complete the quiz by Week 5 will block you from enrolling in the next semester.  Please note UNSW census dates and bear in mind that being blocked may affect your ability to withdraw from a course.

It is after week 5 and I haven't completed the quiz. What should I do?
Complete the quiz as soon as possible and the block on enrollment will be lifted within 48 hours.

I think ELISE might be useful in the future for my studies. Can I access it again?
Yes. You can access ELISE anytime from the Information for Undergraduates or Off Campus webpages.
